What is employee leasing?

Employee leasing is a contractual arrangement in which the professional employer organization is the official employer. Employment responsibilities are typically shared between the leasing company and the client or customer. Typically, clients will utilize contingent staffers to support a core of permanent employees in peripheral, noncore functions and during temporary periods of increased demand.  The client retains essential management control over the work performed by the employees. The client’s responsibility is to cover the expenses for the employees to the leasing company so that they can cover the payroll, taxes, benefits and administrative fees.
